No, I don’t mean we need to wear something to keep our parts in place. Being a healthy individual takes support from your family and friends. Without the support of loved ones, living a healthy lifestyle becomes extremely difficult.
Eating well takes support. Of course we all love Mr. Sticky’s. It would be wonderful to eat a sticky bun every night after dinner. This would not be good for the waistline, however. Your family needs to understand that if you are all going to be successful at maintaining a good body weight, you all need to eat well-balanced diets. Now this doesn’t mean that you can’t treat yourself every once in a while, but Dairy Queen every day isn’t the best option either.
Exercise takes support. This means that your family needs to all help around the house so there is time for exercise in the daily routine. This means that your family should make time to get involved in physical activity together. If one of your wants to go for a walk and another wants to go play tennis, find time to do a little of both or find a compromise. If one of you wants to go to the gym, but the other is too tired or too busy, either inspire them to make the time to go work out, or give them the night off from exercise (but you still need to go!).
Proper rest takes support. Assign a time for the volume in your house to get turned down. I have three boys in my house and 9:30 pm is the beginning of “quiet time.” Unfortunately my boys’ level of quiet is still a dull roar, but they do start winding down. With proper rest, they do well in school and have the energy to go through their daily routines and get exercise as well.
You and your loved ones need to be on the same page when it comes to being healthy individuals. Make a pact with your family and strive to support each other into a healthy lifestyle!
