Soy What? PDF Print E-mail
Soy With all the talk these days about protein and trying to get enough into your diet, what are some of your alternatives to getting enough into your diet? Steak, chicken and eggs are great, but have you ever tried soy protein?  Sounds gross, right?  Soy protein is the only plant-based complete protein, meaning it contains all 8 essential amino acids.

Soy protein is utilized in many products these days.  From veggie burgers, to protein shakes, soy is a very easily digestible protein source.  This does not take away from the importance of steak (which is high in iron) and ham, but for women, soy is very easy to digest and absorb.  When looking for meal replacement bars or shakes, those made with soy not only taste good but are good for you!!

When trying to increase your protein intake, it’s good to try to get protein at every meal.  For instance, eating egg whites and whole-wheat toast for breakfast is a good combination.  Cottage cheese and fruit is a great snack, and apple with peanut butter is good for hunger pangs at 3:00 in the morning.  If you get tired of these things, trying soy products gives you endless options for increasing your protein intake.
